About Blueprint Imaging

Martin Adams and Martin Matthews set up Blueprint Imaging after having worked for a large commercial photographic pro-lab which also had a huge drive-in photo studio. This is where the two of them acquired their printing skills.
In the pre-digital era, all the commercial photos were produced in darkrooms, either by hand or by manually operated specialist equipment. A knowledge of colour and density was essential to produce the high quality photos required by demanding clients. When new technology became available, the two of them helped implement the changes, and new skills were mastered along the way. They were both rewarded for their talents when they received 5 accolades between them at the prestigious ‘Fuji Colour Printer of the Year Awards’.
When the chance came to go it alone, they couldn’t wait to get started. The display graphics market was growing – and they had been involved with it for quite some time – albeit, it was a small part of the business to start with. Their main focus was the automotive industry. Producing thousands and thousands of car photos for the media & journalists, it was a busy, busy period in the history of the business.
As times changed, and technology moved forward, the two knew they had to broaden the business and offer more display graphics and signage. At the same time, the large format printers had reached new heights and the quality that was now possible to create opened up the canvas and fine art Giclee printing market. This came at a perfect time, as their previous darkroom skills went hand in hand with the colour management required to satisfy the art world.
They have invested in new technology over the years, and built up a very comprehensive set of equipment which enables them to create and produce nearly everything in-house.
